Physicals
Can I use my own doctor to do my physical?
Yes, students may use their own doctors, however, you must use our forms and you must inform us prior to your physical.
What do I need to bring on physicals day?
Paper work completely filled out and appropriately signed. $10 fee. Patience.
What does the $10 fee go for?
The $10 will be used to pay for items to improve our athletic training room. Most sports physicals cost $35.
What sports have physicals on August 9, 2007?
Football, Soccer, Volleyball, XC
What sports have physicals on August 22, 2007?
Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Golf, Track
Insurance
Any bills I incur that my insurance company doesn't cover will be paid by Shorter, right?
No, every case is different. Athletes with private health insurance usually incur charges such as co-pays, deductibles, etc.
What if I don't have personal insurance through myself or my guardians?
You will be charged $350/semester if you don't report valid health insurance and DGA will be your primary health insurance. This insurance covers you for training, practice and games.
What happens if I incur medical bills resulting from an injury occurring during supervised practice, games or conditioning?
Shorter's insurance policy covers all students, however, all charges are first applied to your insurance policy and you are responsible for your deductable, co-insurance and co-pays.
How do I file my insurance bills with Shorter's insurance company?
Bring your bills, EOB to Beth Gibbons in the athletic office.
