Assistant Coach

Andy Henderson returns for his sixth season as an assistant coach on the Shorter College staff. Henderson's primary responsibilities include coaching the Hawk hitters and catchers and assisting with recruiting efforts.

Before coming to Shorter, Henderson served as the head baseball coach at Pepperell High School from 1997-2001, where he guided the Dragons to their first state playoff appearance in 17 years and to three playoff berths in four seasons.

Henderson is a native of Newnan, Ga., where he was a key member of the Newnan High School State Group AAAA championship team.

After graduation, Henderson played three seasons of baseball at Southern Union Community College under Coach Joe "Jabo" Jordan, earning Defensive Player of the Year honors as a redshirt freshman and Most Valuable Player accolades as a sophomore. He continued his collegiate career at NCAA Div. II Jacksonville State University where he ranked second in the nation in doubles as a junior and earned All-TAAC honors as a catcher.

Before coaching at Pepperell, Henderson coached at Jacksonville State as a graduate assistant. He is married to the former Suzie Schmucker of Newnan, Ga., and they have three children: twins Ben (10) and Chris (10) and a daughter, Megan (6). Henderson resides in Silver Creek, Ga.
