The Hawks continue play on Wednesday against West Georgia

Rome, Ga. - In the second and third games of a three-game series against the Berry College Vikings, the Shorter College Hawks lost 12-3 and 3-1.

In the first game, Berry (12-3, 4-2) scored two runs in the top of the second inning, seven runs in the fourth inning, and three runs in the top of the sixth before the Hawks (7-10, 2-4) got on the board. Home runs from Gustavo Bonilla and Ibrahim Lopez made the final score 12-3.

Shorter had seven hits in the game, with Ryan Murphy going 2-for-4 with a single and a double.

The winning pitcher for Berry was Chris Rearick and Shorter's Daniel Gandia picked up the loss (2-1).

In the second game, after three runs for Berry in the first inning, Shorter retaliated in the fifth. Following a Trevor Miller single, Murphy sent him home on an RBI single to narrow the Vikings lead, 3-1, and give the Hawks their only run of the game.

Murphy had two singles for the Hawks to go 2-for-3.

Shorter's Alexis Fortis pitched the four-hit complete game for the loss (0-2) and Berry's Jeremy Cameron got the win.

The Hawks continue play on Wednesday against NCAA Div. II West Georgia at home at 1 p.m.
