March 22, 2008

Mount Vernon, Ga. - A four-run seventh for the Barons led to the third loss in a row for the Hawks baseball team as they dropped a Southern States Athletic Conference game on the road to Brewton-Parker, 4-2.

Mark Charrette and Shannon Houston each went 2-for-3 for Shorter (10-18, 3-10). Houston also picked up the team's lone RBI.

The Hawks led 1-0 after the fourth and tried to get back on track with a run in the eighth but fell short of their goal.

Dustin Bowers pitched 6 1/3 innings to garner the loss after he allowed just three hits and struck out four.

Trey Carnes finished the game on the mound and allowed two more hits.

Shorter will complete their series at Brewton-Parker with a doubleheader beginning at noon today.
