Joey Taylor went 5-for-6 in Monday's game

Waleska, Ga. - In the third and final game of the three-game series with Reinhardt College, the Shorter College Hawks baseball team took the 8-3 win to improve to 3-9 SSAC, while the Eagles fall to 8-6 SSAC. This is the first conference series win for the Hawks.

After two scoreless innings to start the game, the Hawks put three runs up in the top of the third and never relinquished the lead. Shorter got a scare in the bottom of the ninth inning when they were up 8-1, but Reinhardt could only manage to put two on the board as the game ended 8-3.

Joey Taylor finished the game going an impressive 5-for-6 with two runs in the lead-off position. Gustavo Bonilla went 3-for-4 with two runs, four RBIs, and a home run, and Jake Broome was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Blake Chapman got the win for Shorter, nearly pitching the complete game, gooing 8.1 innings for seven hits, three earned runs, three walks and three strikeouts. Matt Kirksey pitched the final two batters, giving up one hit while striking out one.

Reinhardt's Matt Carter got the loss.

Shorter returns to the diamond on Wednesday for a doubleheader against Tennessee Temple University.
