Montgomery, Ala. - Shorter College baseball came from behind once in their Southern States Athletic Conference game with Faulkner Monday but failed to stay on top, falling 8-7 in their final series game.

Playing in Montgomery, the Hawks (13-27, 5-16) took a 2-0 lead right out of the gate and then recaptured a 3-2 lead in the third after the Eagles tied it a 2-2 in the second.

But Faulkner (26-19, 10-11) added three in the bottom of the third to make it 5-3.

Both Brandon Ponder and Trevor Miller went 2-for-5 with two RBIs each for Shorter. Matt Turner went 3-for-5.

JP Griffin took the loss for the Hawks.
