Baseball sweeps Tennessee Temple, 2-0, 6-3

Josh Smith got the save in the second game

April 16, 2008

Chattanooga, Tenn. - Trey Carnes and Heath Matthews combined on a seven-hit shutout in the opener, and Trevor Miller hit a three-run homer in the nightcap as Shorter swept a non-conference doubleheader from host Tennessee Temple.

Starter Ben Jackson went four innings for the win in the nightcap, and Josh Smith worked the final three innings for the save.

In the opener, Miller and Ryan Murphy each went 3-for-4 for the Hawks, who took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Matt Turner's RBI single, and added an insurance run in the sixth.

Shorter visits Southern Wesleyan this weekend for a three-game SSAC series that closes the regular season for both teams.
