Talladega, Ala. - Scott Morris pitched six innings for zero earned runs, as the Shorter College Hawks baseball team had 12 hits for 11 runs to beat Talladega College on the road, 11-5. Shorter improves to 18-28 overall in the non-conference competition.

The Hawks got off to an early start in the game, scoring two runs in the first inning and never trailed. After Talladega scored a run in the bottom of the first, Shorter scored one run in the second, five runs in a big third inning, and two runs in the fourth inning for the 9-1 lead.

Shorter scored two more runs in the sixth inning, before Talladega managed four runs in the final three innings to end the game 11-5.

Will Davis led the Hawks going 3-for-4 with a run, four RBIs, and three doubles, followed by Tyler Williams, Shannon Houston and Pat Langley who each had two hits.

Morris (1-0), who usually plays infield for the Hawks, pitched six innings for the win, giving up four hits, zero earned runs, and walking one, while striking out four. Mikey Fletcher pitched the final three innings for his first collegiate save (1).

Shorter plays their final three-game series of the year on Thursday and Friday as they travel to Auburn-Montgomery.
