Feb. 11, 2010

Rome, Ga. - Due to the expectation of inclement weather, the Shorter College baseball game against Truett-McConnell College originally scheduled for Friday, Feb. 12 has been moved to Sunday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m.

Friday's forecast calls for a 60 percent chance of snow showers with the temperature not climbing higher than 35 degrees, making conditions less than ideal for baseball.

"Watching the forecast, we felt that Sunday would be a better opportunity to play," said Hawks' head coach Matt Larry. "With conference play starting up in a couple of weeks, we may have to go with the same sort of scenario playing games on a Saturday and Sunday versus our normal Friday-Saturday series."

The change makes Saturday's double-header against Truett-McConnell the Hawks' 2010 home opener. The twin bill will begin at 12 p.m.

In addition, the annual Shorter Baseball "Striking Out Breast Cancer" event, originally scheduled for this weekend's series, will commence on Saturday, Feb. 27 when the Hawks host Southern States Athletic Conference foe Auburn University-Montgomery at 1 p.m.

Saturday's action will consist of two seven-inning games followed by one nine inning game on Sunday to wrap up the series.
