Montgomery, Ala. - The Shorter College baseball team had three recipients in the Southern States Athletic Conference awards announced today with Cliff Flagello making First Team All-Conference, Scotty Morris and Kyle Donovan receiving Second Team honors, and Dustan Cantrell taking home the newly-introduced Golden Glove award. Cliff Flagello, a senior from Armuchee, Ga., was dominant on the mound this season, going 8-4 with a 2.75 ERA. In 78.2 innings pitched, he struck out 85 with opponents batting .191 against him. Kyle Donovan, a senior from Lebanon, Ill., led the Hawks this year in batting average (.423), at-bats (182), and hits (77). Additionally, he had nine doubles, three home runs and 25 RBI. Dustan Cantrell, a junior from Adairsville, Ga., proved his worth on the field this year by committing only three errors over 54 games, earning the SSAC Gold Glove (for center field). This will become a yearly award given out by Rawlings to exceptional play from a position player. In addition to the conference awards, seven Hawks made the SSAC All-Academic team. They were Wes Ellis, Flagello, Jarrod Lewis, Trevor Miller, Ryan Murphy, Chris Oliver and Gregg Snider. |
