Rome, Ga. - On Nov. 28, children from Rome's Open Door Home & Hospitality House came to Shorter College for the Annual Community, hosted by Shorter's Residence Life staff. This year over 35 children were there to receive presents bought by various organizations and teams from the college. Both the softball and the baseball teams helped participate in this year's event. "It's a great opportunity for the athletes to get involved with those less fortunate around Christmas time," said head baseball coach Matt Larry. "You really get to see the difference you can make in the childrens' lives." The Community Christmas event brings together the campus, as faculty, staff and students are all invited to participate in the community-altering event. "This affects the Rome and Floyd county area in such a positive way," said Whitney Mosley, coordinator of student life. "It gives the kids one more thing to be thankful for." |
