Men's basketball welcomes LaFayette's Tyler Burse to Hawk family
Rome, Ga. - Former LaFayette High School star Tyler Burse has signed on to play basketball for Shorter College next season. The 6-6 small forward signed a national letter of intent on Tuesday morning to play with the Hawks and for head coach Chad Warner, who, along with assistant coach Tyler Murray, made the trip to LaFayette for the signing ceremony. Shorter's Marqise Wright named NAIA All-American
Kansas City, Mo. - Shorter College junior forward Marqise Wright has been named to the NAIA honorable mention All-America team as announced by the organization in a release on Tuesday afternoon. Wright's All-America honor is the first such award for the Hawks since former Shorter shooting guard Tomas Pranciliauskas was named to the NAIA third team after the 2007-08 season. Wright's accolade comes on the heels of one of the most productive individual campaigns in the recent history of the men's basketball program. MORE [+]

Feature: Men's basketball reflects on another successful season
Rome, Ga. - It was a good season for the Shorter men's basketball team. Of this, head coach Chad Warner is certain. A record-setting start, 17 wins, All-Conference and All-Academic players; the Hawks can look back with pride as to what they accomplished despite having to replace the entire starting lineup from the previous season. But in the wake of Shorter's season-ending loss, a heartbreaking three-point setback to Auburn-Montgomery in the quarterfinals of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament, Warner has had those "what could have been" thoughts.
