Salina, Kan. - Shorter College linebacker Logan Lollis nabbed Defensive Player of the Game honors to lead his Nationals team to a 34-21 victory over the Americans in the 4th Annual College Fanz Senior Classic last Saturday at Salina Stadium in Salina, Kan. Lollis, a 2009 College Fanz First Team All-America selection and two-time Mid-South West Defensive Player of the Year, totaled three tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a half of a sack as the Nationals extended their series lead to 3-1 over the Americans in the annual NAIA senior all-star game. Rome, Ga. - Good things come to those who wait. That old adage proved true for Shorter College senior fullback A.J. Cooley, who sat through Saturday's final four rounds of the 2010 NFL Draft waiting on a call that never came - that is until 15 minutes after Weber State wide receiver Timothy Toone was announced as the 255th and final pick of the league's annual selection event. The initial sadness of not seeing his name roll across the ESPN screen was almost immediately replaced with elation for Cooley, who received a call from the Jacksonville Jaguars and an opportunity to sign a free agent contract with the South Florida franchise. Salina, Kan. - Football may be relegated to spring practice and offseason workouts for most collegiate players, but for three former Shorter College Hawks, the opportunity to strap up one more time in a game atmosphere will present itself on Saturday. 2009 seniors A.J. Baker, Jordan Hazard and Logan Lollis will represent Shorter in the 4th Annual College Fanz Sports Network Football Senior Classic this Saturday, April 24 in Salina, Kan. The game, slated for a 1 p.m. CT (2 p.m. ET) kickoff, will take place in 7,000-seat Salina Stadium, home of the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes, and will be streamed live on the web by College Fanz at http://www.collegefanz.com/livestream.jspa.
