Shorter College Football announces signing of 33 new recruits



Football announces 33 signees

Rome, Ga. - Today, the Shorter College football team announced the signing of 33 new players.

Two players from both local Pepperell and Coosa High Schools signed with the Hawks; from Coosa, defensive back Zach Owens and offensive lineman Drew Putnam, and from Pepperell, Mike Fletcher and Don Burkhalter. Surrounding players from Adairsville, Dalton and Bremen will also join the 2008 team, along with two players from Florida, and one from Texas.

The largest amount of new signees is coming from the 5A high school state champions, Lowndes County, with three players.

"We are already starting to fill in some voids and are excited about each of these new players," said head coach Phil Jones. "Our recruiting is only just beginning and we're pleased with the guys we have been able to get so far."
