Louisville, Ky. - Shorter College senior linebacker Logan Lollis has been voted the Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league offices Monday afternoon.

This is the third Defensive Player of the Week honor for Lollis, the reigning Mid-South Western Division Defensive Player of the Year who also earned the weekly award once each in 2008 and 2006. It also marks the second time this season that a Shorter player has garnered the recognition - sophomore safety Daniel Hazard received the accolade for Week 1.

Lollis spearheaded another excellent performance from the Hawks' defense in the team's 42-19 victory over LaGrange College last Saturday night in the fourth installment of The Battle for the Governor's Cup.

The senior from Lyons, Ga. tallied a game-high 12 tackles, including one tackle for loss, and returned an interception 45 yards for the game's final touchdown.

Lollis is off to another terrific start in 2009, currently ranking fourth in the Mid-South Conference and 29th in the NAIA with a 10.5 tackles-per-game average.

Shorter (1-1) opens league play this Saturday, Sept. 19 when it hosts Pikeville College (0-2) at 1:30 p.m. at Barron Stadium.
