Louisville, Ky. - In the Mid-South Conference's ninth weekly football awards for the season, Shorter College's Logan Lollis has been named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Lollis recorded 11 tackles -- seven solo and four assisted -- to earn the honors. The junior linebacker from Lyons, Ga., also recorded a sack in the Hawks' 33-27 win over No. 14-ranked Union College.

Lollis ranks in the conference's top-10 in tackles (9.1) and sacks per game (0.6).

This is the second conference player of the week award for Shorter College this season, with A.J. Cooley taking offensive honors last week.

No. 25 Shorter improves to 6-2 on the season with the win and are third in the West Division with a 1-1 record.

The Hawks have had more than a week off before traveling to Lebanon, Tenn., this weekend for their first of three final divisional conference games against Cumberland (Tenn.) for a 2:30 p.m. kick-off.
