Greeneville, Tenn. - The Shorter College men's golf team posted a team score of 288 to win the 2008 Tusculum Men's Golf Invitational, Sunday at Link Hills Country. The Hawks won the rain-abbreviated tournament by three shots over host Tusculum and Grand Valley State, who each carded 291.

Tusculum senior Chris Wynne captured medalist honors by shooting a four-under par 67, edging out Ben Perdue of Georgia Southwestern by one shot (68) and Shorter's Arvid Bengtson by two strokes (69). Grand Valley's Josh Burt and Tyler Hering each tallied one-under par 70 to round out the All-Tournament Team.

Carson-Newman finished fourth with 294, while Belmont shot 297 to place fifth. Georgia Southwestern and Mars Hill tied for sixth with 2999, while Walter State and Brevard tied for eighth with 302. Tiffin placed 10th with 304, followed by Tusculum Black (307), Lincoln Memorial (308), Limestone (309), Newberry "B" (312), Spartanburg Methodist (312), Tri-County CC (315), USC Lancaster (315) and Virginia-Wise (325).

On Shorter's side, Bengston was followed closely by Alex Lantz with a 72 and Jared Barwick with a 73. Rounding things out for the Hawks were Joaquin Correnti and Elrick Van Eck with a 74 and 75.
