O'Neal, who was a four-year varsity letter winner in lacrosse and a three-year varsity letterman in football while at Darlington, joins the Hawks' program after attending Georgia Southern University last year. Rome, Ga. - There are several crucial steps a head coach must take when starting a new program at an institution soaked in rich, athletic tradition. Getting the necessary logistics in order - budget, equipment, community and campus support - is considered a prime objective, but the eventual heart and soul of the program is always its players, and Shorter College head men's lacrosse coach Nathan Young has gotten off to an excellent start in the recruitment of his initial class. Recently, the Hawks welcomed its first four signees to the brand new program, beginning the foundation of what many around the program believe to be an excellent start to another successful Shorter program.
