Waleska, Ga. - Shorter College split its soccer games against Reinhardt Wednesday in Waleska with the men winning 2-0 and the women losing in the final minutes of the game 0-1.

The Shorter men ended a two-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over the Eagles but starting goalkeeper Pierce Carlson broke his leg in a collision and was scheduled for surgery today.

Thomas Fulton came in and retained the shutout as the Hawks (4-7, 4-4) got goals from Sam Norman (pictured above) and Robert Whitnell.

Norman's goal came in the 37th minute off of a corner kick by Anthony O'Garro. Whitnell scored on a free kick cross from Will Bentley in the 56th minute.

"This was a big game for us," said head coach Josh Severns. "Our guys always go out and play their hardest against Reinhardt, and today we really needed the win."

The Lady Hawks (4-6, 4-5) lost a down-to-the-wire match as Reinhardt broke a scoreless game with five minutes left to record a 1-0 win.

The Shorter men host the University of Montevallo on Friday at 7 p.m. at Grizzard Park while the women visit Georgia College and State University on Saturday.
