Rome, Ga. - Beginning with their first home games on August 27 and August 30, the Shorter College men's and women's soccer teams will have a new place to call home. Shorter head coach Josh Severns and Darlington Athletic Director Bob Stinchcomb have worked out an agreement that will allow the Hawks and Lady Hawks to play all home games at Darlington School's lacrosse field for the 2008-09 school year. "I'm excited about the change, and know our players will enjoy it more," said Severns. "It's not only closer in proximity to the school, but Darlington's facility is at a collegiate level. This allows us to build a closer relationship with Darlington's Soccer Academy and the school, while giving the program a step up." The men's season opens up on August 27 against Savannah College of Art and Design, while the women's season starts on August 30 as both teams face King (Tenn.) College. "The Darlington Soccer Academy is pleased to have Shorter be a part of what we're doing," said Chad Liddle, Academy Director. "It will be nice to host collegiate matches, both for our players and the Darlington community to see." To see the men's 2008 schedule, click here. To see the women's 2008 schedule, click here. |
