Rome, Ga. - With the start of the season quickly approaching, the Shorter College soccer program has announced the hiring of Jennifer Colley as women's assistant coach and Ciaran Traquair as men's soccer graduate assistant. Colley comes to Shorter from RDV Sportsplex, where she was a sports performance coach and personal trainer. She earned her Bachelor of Science in rehabilitative studies from Stetson University in 2005 and, after graduation, she was assistant women's soccer coach for the Lady Hatters for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. "She has a solid coaching background on the Division I level and her expertise in the strength and conditioning field will be invaluable," said head men's and women's soccer coach Josh Severns. "I'm looking forward to having her on staff and all the help she can give will be extremely beneficial to myself and all the players on this team." Traquair played for the Shorter Hawks soccer team from 2003 until his graduation in 2007. He holds the team records for career assists (28), assists in a season (17), and assists in a game (3). After graduation, Traquair was an assistant women's coach at Young Harris College, before playing soccer for the United Soccer Leagues' Premier Development League team, Mississippi Brilla. "He's one of the program's most successful players, and he has always held strong ties to this team," said Severns. "His year of experience coaching and playing will really add to the success of the players in the program, and to the team." |
