Rome, Ga. - In the postseason awards announced by the Southern States Athletic Conference, three Shorter College Hawks soccer players were named to All-Conference Second Team and five were named All-Academic. Defender Brendon Charles, goalkeeper Thomas Fulton and forward Robert Whitnell made this year's all-conference list. Charles, a senior from Trinidad, played in 16 games this season for the Hawks and was key in Shorter's defensive backfield. Fulton, a senior from Tallahassee, Fla., played in 16 of Shorter's games and currently holds team records for saves in a season and shutouts in a season. Whitnell, a junior from Brentwood, England and a member of last year's All-Conference Second Team, scored a team-leading 10 of Shorter's 28 goals this season with one assist. He currently holds the team records for most goals in a game, goals in a season and career goals. The five named to the All-Academic team were Brian Arnold, Will Bentley, Charles, Sam Norman and Kyle Timberlake. |
