Mobile, Ala. - In the first day of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' Men's Tennis National Championship, the Shorter College Hawks took a 6-3 win over No. 21 Oklahoma Christian to advance to a round two match against No. 2 Fresno Pacific on Tuesday at 2 p.m. In the doubles matches, the Hawks fell behind 2-1, as Juliano Cirimbelli and David Araiza took Shorter's victory in the No. 1 spot. Shorter went on to win five of the six singles matches, to take the 6-3 win. In number one singles, Cirimbelli won the tiebreaker 11-9 to start the Hawks out on the right note. After taking a tiebreaker defeat at No. 2, Quentin Grieu, David Araiza, Josh Lewis and Francisco Franco easily took singles No. 3-6. Shorter now advances to the second round where they will play the No. 2-ranked Fresno Pacific Sunbirds. The match will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Complete scores are below.
