Hawks eliminated from NAIA Tennis Tourney with loss to Azusa Pacific
Mobile, Ala. - Shorter College's No. 1 doubles duo of Luis Quintero and Badr Cherradi scored an 8-4 victory over Azusa Pacific's top pair of Matthijs Bolsius and Jochem Hoefnagels, but the No. 3-ranked and third-seeded Cougars stormed back with wins in the final two doubles matches and three singles clashes to earn a 5-1 victory over the 14th-ranked Hawks and advance to the Elite Eight of the 2010 NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship. Men's tennis cruises to 5-0 victory over Olivet Nazarene in NAIA First Round
Mobile, Ala. - No. 14-ranked Shorter College swept through the doubles competition before getting victories from Thibault Langeard and Grayson Jones in singles play en route to a 5-0 victory over No. 25 Olivet Nazarene in the first round of the NAIA Men's Tennis Championship in Mobile, Ala. Mobile, Ala. - There was a time, not too long ago, when Shorter College was a fixture at the NAIA Tennis National Championship in a two-fold manner. Throughout the 1990s and into the mid 2000s, the men's and women's teams at Shorter shared the national tournament spotlight, lending testimony to a solid tradition of success for each program. On May 18, the Hawks and Lady Hawks end a two-year drought of competing together at the national championships when they hit the courts at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., hoping to emerge with each program's first national title.
