April 3, 2008 Rome, Ga. - In the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' polls, released on April 2 for softball and tennis, and on March 29 for golf, five Shorter College spring sports teams received top 25 placings. In the golf polls released last week, the men's team jumped into the top 25 for the first time this season at No. 17, and the women's team went up from No. 11 to No. 10. The men finished 22nd overall at the National Tournament last May and both teams hope to place well this season, following the Region XIII Championships. Both men's and women's tennis teams are also ranked in the top 25. Currently with a 9-3 record and coming off a win against then-No. 13 Berry, the men jumped from No. 19 to No. 13. The women's team fell slightly, but remain at No. 20. Rounding out the nationally-ranked spring sports is softball, which comes off a perfect week ranked No. 17. They split games yesterday with receiving-votes Lee University. Rankings come out every Wednesday and every other Friday in the spring sports, leading up to the National Championships in April and May.
