Atlanta, Ga. - In their first outdoor meet of the 2008 season, the Shorter College men's track team took third place with 85 points in the Emory Invitational at Emory University in Atlanta. Additionally, Nick Dodson, Montagious Brown and the 4x100 meter relay team of Albeyon McMillan, Shaun Kennedy, Brice Oglesby and Adrian Baker qualified for the NAIA National Championship in St. Louis, Mo., on May 22-24. Dodson ran the 400 meter hurdles in 53.84 seconds for first place at the invitational, Brown jumped for six foot, 11 inches in the high jump for first, and the 4x100 team ran for second place with a time of 41.77 seconds. "In our first meet of the season, I was really impressed by some of the marks we saw," said head coach Scott Byrd. "We will continue to go out and work on improving each week in hopes of qualifying even more for Nationals in May." Shorter will travel to the Alabama Relays next weekend in Tuscaloosa, Ala. |
