Rome, Ga. - Beginning with the 2007-08 season, the Shorter College track & field men's and women's teams will be members of the Mid-South Conference (MSC); home to Shorter's football team for the past two years.

According to Mike Polio, Mid-South Conference Commissioner, this marks the first time in MSC history that a football-only member has been admitted to join the conference in an additional sport. "We are real excited about all the things Shorter brings," said Polio. "In just two short years, everyone has seen the class with which Shorter operates their football program, and the athletic directors voted unanimously for their admittance in track and field. We're a great match for one another and our continued relationship will only strengthen."

Shorter College Athletic Director Bill Peterson expects the same. "We are very appreciative of Mike [Polio] and the Mid-South Conference and the help they have provided in the past," said Peterson. "Our relationship in football has been excellent and we are proud that we will be able to say the same for track & field."

The Mid-South Conference, based in Louisville, Ky., has 14 member institutions in seven different states, with Lindsey Wilson, Cumberlands, Campbellsville, and Georgetown as current track & field members.
