Cyrus Wakaba finished 3rd for the Hawks and 76th overall

Louisville, Ky. - The Shorter College men's cross country team had an exceptional day at the Louisville Classic on Saturday morning, taking 15th overall and first among all NAIA schools competing. The Hawks bested 16th-ranked Lindenwood University by nine points.

Martin Hernandez finished in 43rd overall with a time of 24:59.72, followed by Jared Carson in 48th (25:03.96) and Cyrus Wakaba in 76th (25:26.53). Rounding out the top five for Shorter were Steven Rich in 177th (26:30.06) and Peter Limo in 193rd (26:44.18).

The Hawks had 475 points in the race (37-42-69-156-171) and placed ahead of many notable NCAA schools, including Vanderbilt University and the University of Mississippi. Southern Illinois University took first with 77 points, followed by Eastern Kentucky University with 91 points.
