Rome, Ga. - Led by Sandra Kostandinovic's 14 points and Nicole Frechette's double-double, the Shorter College Lady Hawks beat the Reinhardt Lady Eagles on Thursday night, 70-60, in the Winthrop-King Centre.

The Lady Hawks (12-4, 6-1) got off to a solid start in the first half. Shooting 56% from the field, Shorter was up by 10 points for most of the first twenty minutes, going into halftime up 36-26.

In the second, the Lady Hawks had a harder time finding the net, but the solid defense of Whitni Tucker and Frechette kept the Lady Eagles (9-10, 4-5) at bay for Shorter's sixth conference win.

Despite having two injured starters, the Lady Hawks were able to show their depth as a team. "I hate it so much for two of our starters (Heather Kilgore and Kendra Shepherd) because they were both having such fine years," said head coach Vic Mitchell. "But I told our team that it is not up to one person to make up the difference. It's up to everyone to do their part, and we saw that tonight."

Kostandinovic led all scorers and was followed by Frechette with 11 points and 14 total rebounds. Reinhardt's Nichole Willis led the way for the Lady Eagles with 11 points and six rebounds.

Shorter returns to action on Saturday against conference-foe Lee University for a 2 p.m. tip-off in Shorter's Winthrop-King Centre.
