Central, S.C. - The Shorter College Lady Hawks took a tough road conference loss on Saturday, falling to Southern Wesleyan 64-53. The Lady Hawks were down by only four points at the end of the first half (28-24), but the Lady Warriors were able to keep a hold on Shorter in the second. Katarina Martinovic scored 25 points in the loss. Nicole Frechette added 12 points for the Lady Hawks (19-9, 12-6) and Megan Queen scored 10. The Lady Warriors (11-6, 6-12) were led by Tammy White and Chinessia Lee with 14 points each. The teams were close in shooting percentages, but Shorter was held just under Southern Wesleyan. The Lady Hawks shot 35 percent from the field to the Lady Warriors' 38 percent. In free throws, Shorter shot 74 percent while Southern Wesleyan hit 78 percent. |
