Waleska, Ga. - Led by a 25-point outburst by Sandra Kostandinovic, the Shorter College women's basketball team collected its 20th win of the season Thursday night when the Lady Hawks rallied to hand Reinhardt a 63-56 Southern States Athletic Conference defeat in Waleska. The victory gives Shorter a 20-9 overall record (13-6 overall) heading into its regular-season finale Saturday at 6 p.m. against SSAC power and No. 2-ranked Lee. The Lady Hawks' last 20-win season came in 2001 when Shorter earned a berth in the NAIA national tournament. Shorter trailed 28-23 at the half and faced as much as a 12-point deficit early in the second half before getting into gear. While they started taking care of the ball better -- Shorter had just two turnovers in the second half -- the Lady Hawks also found the range shooting the ball, hitting 48 percent of their shots over the final 20 minutes. Kostandinovic had the hot hand for Shorter, hitting 10-of-21 shots, including 5-of-10 from three-point land, to end the night leading all scorers with 25 points. Katarina Martinovic also finished in double digits for the Lady Hawks with 17 points. Reinhardt (10-19, 5-14) was paced by Kinsey Galyon's 14 points. |
