Cleveland, Tenn. - The Shorter Lady Hawks basketball team fell to the No. 2 Lee University Lady Flames in their last regular season matchup on Saturday night, 77-53. The Lady Flames forced Shorter into 22 turnovers and won the rugged battle of the boards, 42-40. The defense held the Lady Hawks (20-14, 13-7) to just 31 percent shooting from the field and 26 percent shooting from 3-point range. It was not a great shooting night by the Lady Flames. They made 38 percent from the field and 35 percent from behind the arc. However, they did convert 22-of-28 free throws. Shorter got a supreme effort from Nicole Frechette. She scored 16 points and captured 16 rebounds. Katarina Martinovic added 13 points and eight boards. The pair dominated most of the scoring for the Lady Hawks as no other player had more than six points. The Lady Hawks will travel to Lee University again on Thursday evening to play Southern Poly in the first round of the SSAC Tournament at 5:30 p.m. Second round play will be held on Friday following a Shorter win.
