![]() Whitni Tucker named SSAC Female Honor Student-Athlete Montgomery, Ala. - Shorter College senior point guard Whitni Tucker has been named the Southern States Athletic Conference Female Honor Student-Athlete for the 2009-10 academic year as announced by the league on Tuesday evening. Tucker, who earned the NAIA's Emil S. Liston Award last year as the nation's top female junior basketball player based on scholarship, character and playing ability, is the second straight Lady Hawk to garner the league's most prestigious honor - former Shorter softball standout Becca Thomas took home last year's award. Foster, a combo guard who has spent the last two seasons at Roane State Community College after graduating from Coosa in 2008, will finish out her final two years of eligibility with the Lady Hawks. MORE [+] ![]() Lee County star Lindsey Crawford signs with Lady Hawks Leesburg, Ga. - Fresh off a historic 2009-10 season, the Shorter College Lady Hawks' basketball team is already off to a great start in its 2010-11 recruiting class. On Friday, April 23, Lindsey Crawford, a 6-1 guard/forward out of Lee County High School in Leesburg, signed a national letter of intent to play ball for the Shorter University Lady Hawks next season. Crawford, an All-Region 1-AAAA and Albany Herald All-Area Team selection this past season, led the Lady Trojans in scoring and rebounding during the past three seasons and concluded her prep career with 1,248 points, 1,115 rebounds, 590 steals, 378 blocks and 309 assists.
