Atlanta, Ga. - For Nicole Frechette, this past week was one she won't forget anytime soon. Not only did she earn her 1000th career point against Reinhardt, get her sixth and seventh double-doubles of the season, but she also was instrumental in her first-ever win against the 5th-ranked Lee University Lady Flames - all of which culminated today with her being named the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Frechette scored 11 points (and an impressive 16 rebounds) in the Lady Hawks' 64-57 win over Reinhardt College to put her career point total at 1002 points. She followed that this past Saturday with another solid performance in Shorter's 70-63 win over nationally-ranked Lee, in which she went 8-for-10 from the field and 2-for-4 on free throws to tally 18 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. The win was the Lady Hawks' first win against the Lady Flames since Nov. 8, 2003.

"This is great for Nicole to be recognized by the conference," said Shorter head coach Vic Mitchell. "She has been one of our senior leaders all year, averaging almost a double-double on the season, and she would be one of the first tell you that she is only able to do this because of her teammates. We are all excited for this honor and looking forward to her continuing this type of play throughout the rest of the season."

Frechette now has 231 points on the season, averaging over 13 points a game. She also leads the SSAC in rebounds averaging just under 10 a game (top ten in the NAIA), with a total 166.

The Lady Hawks hope to keep their six-game win streak alive this Thursday as they make the cross-town visit to rival Berry College for a 6 p.m. tip-off at the Cage Center. They will then return to the Winthop-King Centre on Jan. 26 against conference-foe Brenau University.
