Rome, Ga. - In the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' end of season awards, Shorter College's Katarina Martinovic has been named to the women's basketball All-American Honorable Mention team.

Martinovic, a junior from Serbia-Montenegro and transfer from Spoon River Community College, led the Lady Hawks to a 20-win season, pulling a team-leading 454 points, and a 83% free-throw percentage.

She added 103 rebounds, 73 assists and 43 steals in just her first season in a Shorter jersey. Her season-high 29 points came against nationally-ranked Lee University on Jan. 19, when she went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

Martinovic was also honored in the Southern States Athletic Conference, receiving the Newcomer of the Year award and being named to the All-Conference team.

"This is just a culmination to the season that she had for us," said head coach Vic Mitchell. "It's not only a reflection of her efforts, but also of the team as a whole."
