Savannah, Ga. - The eleventh-ranked Shorter College Lady Hawks golf team shot a 326 on the second day of the Savannah College of Art & Design Invitational, to place second overall in the two-day event. Shorter's Daniela Vargas won her second straight individual title with a two-day total of 147 (75 on the first day, 72 on the second day). Following Vargas, were Ahmreen Humayun and Johanna Babra, who shot an 82 and 85, respectively. Ashley Trenz and Cristy Pak rounded things out for the Lady Hawks with scores of 87 and 89 on the second day. "It was very windy on the course, but our girls stuck with it until the end," said head coach Ahmad Hayat. "We are constantly competing with the best teams in the nation, and placing among the top. I couldn't be prouder of what they are accomplishing." Fourth-ranked Embry Riddle University finished first in the invitational, shooting a 325 on the second day. Rounding out the top three was Berry College, finishing four shots behind Shorter. |
