Women's golf team tops Montevallo, North Georgia in Dahlonega

Dahlonega, Ga. - Shorter College freshman Greta Lange finished second overall with a six-over, 76 in leading the No. 17-ranked Lady Hawks to a first-place finish in the three-team, one-day North Georgia Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at the Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega, Ga.

Ahmereen Humayun and Catalina Olarte shot rounds of 80 and 81, respectively, to place third and fourth, giving Shorter three of the event's top four golfers.

Esther Gandarias and Petra Muller tied for sixth overall out of 15 athletes. Both players posted rounds of 83 for Shorter, which won the event by a whopping 36 strokes with a team total of 322.

The University of Montevallo (358) finished second and North Georgia came in third with a team round of 414.

Montevallo's Emma Breen won medalist honors with a blistering two-under, 70.

Shorter's women's golf team returns to the links on April 26 and 27 for the SSAC's Unaffiliated Playoff in Columbus, Ga.
