Shorter finished five shots ahead of second place Lindsay Wilson College

Rome, Ga. - Shorter College freshman Greta Lange finished third overall with a two-day total of 154 and Petra Muller and Catalina Olarte tied for sixth as the Lady Hawks won the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational hosted by Berry College at Stonebridge Golf Club.

Lange fired a first round 74 in yesterday's action to set herself up for a run at medalist honors. The first-year athlete from Bremen, Germany posted an eight-over 80 on Tuesday to finish two shots off the lead at +10.

Muller and Olarte improved upon their day one scores to finish just outside the top-three.

Muller, a sophomore from Cordoba, Argentina, shot a 155 (79-76) for the tournament to finish at 11-over par and Olarte, a freshman from Manizales, Colombia, improved upon Monday's 80 with a three-over, 75 on Tuesday to tie her teammate in sixth place.

Lady Hawk sophomore Esther Gandarias rounded out the top-four finishers for head coach Greg Owens' charges, placing 18th overall with a two-day total of 163 (+19).

Entering the final day with a four-stroke lead over Lindsay Wilson College, the Lady Hawks turned in a team tournament low 311 to win the event by five strokes with a two-day total of 625.

Lindsay Wilson (630) finished second while South Carolina Beaufort (643), the University of West Georgia (652) and the University of the Cumberlands (656) rounded out the top five.

13 teams and 74 athletes competed in the tournament. Every Shorter entry finished in the top-30, as senior Ahmereen Humayun posted a 165 (85-80) to place 26th.

South Carolina Beaufort's Adriana Saavedra took home medalist honors with an eight-over, 152 for the event.
