![]() Women's soccer welcomes newest additions to 2010 recruiting class Rome, Ga. - Shorter College's new head women's soccer coach Jen Colley has announced the signing of nine student-athletes to her first-ever recruiting class. The nine signees, all Georgia natives, were introduced at a small gathering last Friday and signal the ushering in of a new era for Lady Hawks' soccer. Colley was named the program's first female head coach back in November, and takes over a program that had steadily improved over the last four years under current men's soccer head coach Josh Severns. For the Shorter College women's soccer team, however, that has not been the case, as a familiar face is already making big strides towards her first season at the helm in the fall of 2010. MORE [+] Hawk and Lady Hawk soccer named NSCAA Team Academic Award winners Kansas City, Kan. - The Shorter College men's and women's soccer teams were honored as 2009 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award Winners as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon. A total of 579 soccer teams (144 men, 335 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, therefore earning the NSCAA honor. Shorter was one of only 100 of those schools that had both their men's and women's programs recognized.
