Adams, Ammons and Munson garner NAIA All-America honors
Decatur, Ala. - Shorter College seniors Tiffany Adams and Dandi Ammons and junior Libby Munson have been named to the 2010 NAIA Softball All-America team as announced by the NAIA late Wednesday afternoon. Adams garnered a first team nod, Munson was named to the second team and Ammons to the honorable mention squad as Shorter placed three players on the All-America roster in the same season for the first time since 2008, when Munson, Kerry Hammond and Jessica Sanders all garnered All-American recognition. Decatur, Ala. - Sarah Hurlbut went 2-for-2 with an RBI and Melanie Ahumada and Tory Ferreira combined to allow just four hits as No. 1-ranked California Baptist University stayed alive at the 2010 NAIA Softball National Championship with a 3-2 victory over 10th-ranked Shorter College. Decatur, Ala. - If there had been one negative lingering amidst Shorter College's 4-0 start to the NAIA Softball National Championship, it was the inability to score runs. That one weakness finally came back to haunt the No. 10-ranked Lady Hawks. Shorter stranded 13 runners on base and No. 14 Simon Fraser University's Laura Riske managed a two-out, RBI single in the top of the seventh to lead the Clan to a 1-0 victory over the Lady Hawks in the second round of the 2010 NAIA Softball National Championship Tournament.
