Atlanta, Ga. - In the first selection of the year, Shorter College Lady Hawk Charlsie Broome was named the Southern States Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week, for March 9-15. During that time, the Lady Hawks went 6-2, including two wins over conference foe Southern Wesleyan, and four wins in the Gulf Coast Invitational.

Broome began the week going 3-for-6 against Southern Wesleyan with three runs, a home run, and four RBIs. Her biggest game, however, came against receiving-votes Trevecca Nazarene in the Gulf Coast Invitational, when she was a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two home runs and four RBIs.

For the week, she had a .409 batting average (9-for-22), .966 slugging average, nine RBIs, nine runs, and three stolen bases.

The Lady Hawks take to the diamond again on Wednesday as they travel to Brewton-Parker College for two conference games, beginning at 2 p.m.
