Rome, Ga. - In the Southern States Athletic Conference's first selections for softball awards, Shorter College's Libby Munson was named Pitcher of the Week. Munson went 6-0 for the No. 7 ranked Lady Hawks, averaging 6.4 strikeouts a game with a low 1.29 ERA in 38 innings pitched. In a close game to NCAA Div. II West Florida, she pitched a two-hitter striking out 11, and pitched a three-hitter against receiving-votes Spring Hill College. Additionally, in the championship bracket of the Gulf Shores Invitational, Munson gave up only one run in her no-decision to No. 8 Savannah College of Art & Design. "She has been constant for us all season," said head coach Melanie Carter. "We knew from the beginning that she would be a great pitcher and look forward to where she'll take us the rest of the season." Shorter travels to Thomasville, Ga., on Thursday to play a doubleheader against Thomas University. |
