Atlanta, Ga. - In the final conference weekly softball awards selections from the Southern States Athletic Conference, Shorter College Lady Hawk Elisabeth Barber has been named the Player of the Week, for the week ending April 26. This is the first time this season that Barber has received the award.

Shorter went 6-2 on the week, taking four conference victories including one over 12th-ranked Brenau University and one over 17th-ranked Lee University, to finish in third place in the tough SSAC.

Barber played in seven of Shorter's games, ending the week 11-for-16 (.688 average) with three runs, three doubles, four RBIs and four walks. She had three perfect games: one against Lee, going 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and another against Brenau, going 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

After the impressive week, Barber now leads the team in hitting with a .400 overall batting average.
