Play at the 2010 Championship has been delayed due to weather

May 21, 2010

Decatur, Ala. - Inclement weather has forced the suspension of Friday's pool play competition at the 2010 NAIA Softball National Championship at the Wilson Morgan Softball Complex in Decatur, Ala.

The 10th-ranked Shorter College Lady Hawks, 2-0 victors over 22nd-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University in Thursday's Pool G opener, were scheduled to play Ottawa University (Kan.) at 5 p.m. CDT on Friday. The Lady Braves fell to Pool G's top-seed, No. 7-ranked Point Loma Nazarene University, 5-1 in last night's final round of games.

A coaches meeting will be held at 4 p.m. CDT this afternoon to determine the plan for the completion of pool play competition. At that time, the Lady Hawks' remaining pool play schedule will be announced.

The weather forecast for the next several days indicates clear skies and warm temperatures.

Shorter stands at 1-0 in pool play after yesterday's victory. The winner of each of the eight pools advance to the eight-team, double-elimination national championship tournament that at this point, is still scheduled to begin on Monday, May 24.
