Cleveland, Tenn. - The No. 20 Shorter College women's tennis team took a landslide victory over the No. 24 Lee University Lady Flames on Tuesday afternoon, taking all three doubles matches and 5-of-6 singles matches for the 8-1 win. In doubles competition, Shorter's Lydie Ratsaraefadahy and Angelika Bondarenko defeated Brooklyn Goodell and Kelli Miller, 8-1, to start things out for the Lady Hawks. Both the number two team of Caroline Robert and Danielle Monteith and the No. 3 team of Giuliana Luconi and Carolina Brigneti took each of their matches 8-2, to give Shorter the 3-0 lead. In singles competion, Shorter went on to win all the matches except at No. 2, with Bondarenko barely losing 6-2, 5-7 and 10-3. Ratsaraefadahy won 6-0 and 6-0 at No. 1, Robert won 6-1, 5-7 and 6-1 at No. 3, Monteith won 2-6, 6-4 and 10-7 at No. 4, and Luconi and Bigneti finished out at No. 5 and 6 with 8-4 and 8-5 victories. Shorter improves to 11-6, 4-3 in the SSAC and Lee drops to 7-6, 3-4 SSAC. They will both travel next to the SSAC Tournament. |
