Bloomington, Ind. - This weekend (Friday and Saturday), the Shorter women's track team traveled to the Indiana University for the Gladstein Invitational. By the end of the meet, several ladies etched their names into the record books, along with a few national qualifying marks.

Justyna Mudy started things off by breaking the school record in the 3000m run, and punching her ticket to the national championship in February. Her time of 9:42.90 was more than one minute faster than the previous record.

Freshman Sarah Massey lowered the mile record (5:34.07), placing 15th in her first mile run as a Lady Hawk, while Amy Worthy dropped the 5000m record (19:37.55), placing 14th in the event.

The female sprinters got into the action as well, starting with Natasha Woodruff breaking the 60m hurdle record with a time of 9.76. Freshman Brittany Sewell placed 10th in the 200m with a national qualifying time of 26.21. Jessica Coons lowered her own 400m record, crossing the line in 1:01.14.

Tia Moreland, another freshman to the team, established a new 600m record when she placed 7th in 1:43.24.

The last event of the day turned out to be the last record and qualifier for the Lady Hawks. The team of Mia Jones, Jessica Coons, Keiera Haggins, and Tia Moreland fought their way to a 7th place finish in the 4x400m relay with a record and qualifying time of 4:06.49.

Next up will be the Niswonger Invitational, held on the campus of East Tennessee State University, beginning January 30th.
