Bloomington, Ind. - This weekend at the Hoosier Invitational, hosted by Indiana University, the Lady Hawks track team introduced their newest member. Ashlie Stewartson, known for her skills as a middle blocker on the Shorter volleyball team, switched from the volleyball court to the rubber runway and didn't disappoint.

By the end of the day, she left with victories in both the long and triple jump. Her long jump (17'4.75") and triple jump (36'11.50") marks bettered the previous records by over six inches. What's more impressive is that her triple jump mark automatically qualifies her for next month's national championships, and ranks her seventh in the NAIA.

Britany Sewell's victory in the 200 meter dash (26.14) and runner-up finish in the 60 meter dash (7.92) were both personal bests, as well as national qualifying marks. Her times are both third all time in school history, behind All-Americans K'Ianca Dupree and Ashley Cousin.

In the women's 400 meters, Mia Jones dropped nearly one half a second with a third place time of 1:00.66, while Tia Moreland's 1:42.69 in the 600 meters lowered her own school record.

The women's 4x400 meter relay of Dominique Woods, Mia Jones, Keiera Haggins, and Jessica Coons lowered their school record for the third consecutive meet. Their 4:02.27 runner-up finish also automatically qualified them to compete at the national championships.

Up next for the team will be a visit back to Clemson University for the Tiger Invitational on February 21st. The meet will serve as the last chance for the ladies to qualify for nationals.
