Athens, Ga. - The Shorter College track and field team got in a good primer for the conference championships on Saturday as they competed in the Bulldog Limited in Athens. Hosted by the University of Georgia, the day saw a number of Shorter competitors finish in the top ten in their events. In the 800 meters, Hawks' runner Lois Godelar came in second with a time of one minute and 52.37 seconds while teammates Derricus Johnson finished fourth (1:52.97) and Remy Charpentier was sixth (1:53.08). A.J. Baker was second in the men's long jump with a distance of 23 feet, 6 3/4 inches and Shaun Kennedy took third in the 100 meters with a time of 10.55 seconds. In the 110 hurdles, Nate Scott gave Shorter a third-place finish, coming in at 14.66 seconds. The Hawks' 1600-meter relay team captured third as well with a time of 3:18.23. In the 400-meter relay, the Hawks finished fourth with their team coming in at 41.68 seconds. Montagious Brown took fifth in the men's high jump, clearing 6-6 3/4. Joe Chisholm had a distance of 44-3 1/2 in the shot put while Curtis John recorded a throw of 138-7 in the discus. K'Ianca Dupree finished fifth in the women's 100 meters with a time of 11.97. Shorter will compete in the Mid-South Conference championships on Saturday in Williamsburg, Ky. For complete meet results, please click here. |
