In 2008, Runion rewrote her own kills record, recording a Shorter single-season best 408 kills and surpassing her previous record of 404 set in 2007. With 1,085 career kills to her credit, Runion needs just 164 kills in 2009 to overtake former Shorter great Kate Puckett as the Lady Hawks' all-time leader in kills.

Runion is a three-time All-Southern States Athletic Conference selection, earning second team honors after her freshman campaign and first team nods in each of the past two seasons. In 2007 and 2008, Runion was named to the SSAC All-Tournament team.

A native of Ringgold, Ga., Runion played her high school volleyball at Ringgold High School under coaches John Gaston and Annie Blanks. Runion was named All-Area Player of the Year in her senior season and was a three-time All-Conference choice.
