Cleveland, Tenn. - Shorter flirted with an upset against No. 21 Lee University before dropping a 3-2 road decision in a SSAC match on Tuesday. Lee won the first two games, 30-23 and 35-33, but Shorter (5-6, 1-2) rebounded by taking the next two, 30-28 and 31-29. The host Lady Flames then won the decisive game, 15-13. Shorter's Kasi Runion finished with 16 kills and 10 assists. Also compiling big numbers: Kate Puckett (16 kills), Jenny Mealer (12 kills), Maggie Parker (12 kills), Kristy Walker (55 assists), Kayla Rollins (26 digs), Katie Van Hofwegen (15 digs) and Amy Marvin (seven kills, nine digs). Shorter travels to Birmingham, Ala., this weekend to compete in the Birmingham Southern tourney. |
